What the heck is hyaluronic acid?
Hyaluronic Acid
In today's blog I'm going to go into what hyaluronic acid is, where it comes from, what it does and my experience with it and how I have used and continue to use it on a regular basis.
So, what is hyalronic acid? Simply put; Hyaluronic acid is a substance that naturally is produced by our bodies. Inside our bodies, it helps with dry eyes, joint and bone health, and it also works side by side with collagen.
Now what does hyaluronic acid do for our skin? Hyaluronic acid just as with our dry eyes helps hydrate our skin too. It helps rehydrate dry skin, speeds up healing and reduces the appearnace of fine lines and wrinkles. The best way to explain the way it works is this: a dry grape is a raisin, hyaluronic acid helps reverse that raisin back to a smooth grape by hydrating it, this plumps up the surface and reduces the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines caused by drying out, and time.
So what's the deal with collagen and HA? I'm going to use HA; short for hyaluronic acid.
Collagen and HA together is the key. HA actually helps boost collagen, again-- by hydration this is one of they workings that helps speed up healing time which is one of the main aspects of collagen and what collagen does and is known for.
HA has been said to be boosted by amino acids, peptides and Vitamin C. So eating foods high in vitamin c and amino acids while altogether good for you will also help boost your own body's production of HA. It is also why so many products include Vitamin C or Serum C with HA and why HA is used to help boost collagen.
I can personally tell you that I apart from using Tretinoins,I love my HA and Collagen Boosters. It is not a secret that I am a huge customer to my med spa; I love my injectables and fillers. I have come to notice that HA and Collagen boosters extend my botox/dysport time tenfold. So, I now include it in my daily regimen along with supplements that help with the production of collagen.
I found Cicamed quite by accident when looking for products to help boost some of my HA and Collagen. I found that they are completely organic and offered a great serum c and collagen booster. I have been using them alongside my HA hydrators and have seen such an amazing brightening difference which I honestly did not expect.
Brightening is the one effect of serum c that literally makes HA and Collagen amazing for your skin and helps with aging as well as just keeping yourself healthy and fresh.
Hoping todays blog helped some understand hyluronic acid a bit better. Next time we will talk more about cleansers and makeup removers. Why some makeup removers cause break outs and clogging of pores and what cleansers are faves out there and why.
